By Ijendu Iheaka

Governor  Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State on Wednesday called on Abia state residents to support Ikpeazu's development efforts for more rewarding achievements in the state.

Tambuwal made this call in Aba while renaming Umuojima road in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area to Dr Chima Nwafor road and declaring it open for use.

He said that supporting a governor like Okezie Ikpeazu would increase the governor's passion for good works and make him do more for the benefit of the citizens and residents of the state.

Tambuwal commended governor Ikpeazu for managing the money available to him judiciously and completing some road projects with it to reduce the sufferings of the people.

The Sokoto governor said the renaming of Umuojima road was to immortalise a good man, Dr Chima Nwafor who was one time deputy governor of the state under the reign of Dr Orji Uzor Kalu.

Speaking at the event, governor Ikpeazu said that most of the roads being reconstructed by his government in Aba were chosen to create access to strategic markets in the city in order to enhance the state's economic development.

Ikpeazu said that he was planning an intervention on the dilapidated Port Harcourt Road stressing that he would not be deterred by the scarcity of resources at his disposal.

He said that he was discussing with his Akwa Ibom state counterpart to ensure rehabilitation of the deplorable Aba - Ikot Ekpene road leading to Akwa Ibom adding that with time, his government would be able to construct a fly over in Aba.

He thanked his Sokoto state counterpart for coming to inaugurate the roads and promised to do his best to lift the burden of Abia people while assuring them that he will complete all the projects he started.

Ikpeazu and his Sokoto state counterpart inaugurated three roads completed by his government in Aba, the commercial nerve centre of the state and flagged off the reconstruction of the MCC road. .

The completed road projects which Tambuwal inuagurated included Ehere road, Umuojima which was renamed Dr Chima Nwafor road and Umuocham-Umule-Umuehilegbu roads.

Earlier in his remark, the Commissioner for Works, Hon Eziuche Ubani said the roads were important and strategic noting they all had drainages and the rigid pavement technology to check flooding and to make them more durable.
