Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state has called on men and women of goodwill worldwide to consider the sufferings Christians in the North East of Nigeria are going through and to help them.
Ikpeazu made the call late Thursday evening at the governor's lodge in Aba during the visit of the President of Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), Rev. Jeremiah Gado to him.
He said that Christians in North Eastern Nigeria who were menaced by insurgency and have been deprived of the opportunity and privilege to worship God as they would have loved to do deserve the sympathy and help of all.
"I am more than ever before ready to assist in rebuilding some of the churches as it is a good thing to do.Even as you have come on this trip we have to also make some commitment .
"If there are some of our churches especially poor churches, rural churches that are damaged by insurgents and those who do not like good things and the unity or Nigeria, the least we can do is to join hands to rebuild those churches to the glory of God", he said.
Ikpeazu reaffirmed his administration's resolve and commitment to continue to serve the people of Abia state in the fear of God and promised that they would not disappoint God and his people.
Earlier, the ECWA President, Rev. Jeremiah Gado said that he was in the state to pray for the sons and daughters of Abia state and to inaugurate the newly built ECWA International Guest House in Aba.
He thanked the governor for his development strides in the state and for committing to serve Abia people with faith and the fear of God.
"Without faith in God, we will misuse the offices we occupy but with fear in God we will rule on his behalf and I appreciate the fact that you rule with the fear of God and God is first in your life and in Abia", he said.
Gado urged the governor to help the church sanitize the guest house environment which is littered with all kinds of people to ensure it is secured for its users.
The Cleric promised that ECWA would partner Abia state government in promoting and patronizing its made-in-Aba products adding that the initiative would provide jobs to millions of Nigerians.
Gado, on behalf of ECWA later gave a plaque to Ikpeazu in recognition of his support and encouragement to Christians nationwide and the North East in particular.
