The
Abia State government has urged its ministries, departments and agencies to
quickly revive their Service Compact (SERVICOM) units or establish one where they
did not exist before now.
He said that the platform helps
government offices to get spontaneous feedbacks from the public which could
help them to improve their services through making necessary changes.
The Abia State Head of Service, Dr
Vivian Uma gave the charge when he paid an unscheduled visit to the new and old
state secretariats in Umuahia on Monday.
Uma said there was the need to
reinforce workers obligation to fill the attendance and movement registers
while coming to or closing from work daily.
He said that the attendance
register must be closed by 8:45 am of each working day while expressing his
displeasure over the poor attendance of workers to work after the celebrations.
He urged heads of the MDAs to
ensure that all annual leave roasters did not exceed the month of November as
is in line with Abia State Civil Service rule.
Uma commended Dr Okezie Ikpeazu’s
government for its unwavering commitment to paying salaries of civil servants
in the MDAs up to December 2017.
He urged workers to shun maligning,
lateness to work and other acts that are inimical to the growth of the civil
service.
In their remarks, the State
Director of Information, Mr Iyke Odoemelam, Director of Civil Engineering,
Ministry of Works, Mr Okala Uduma and Mrs Uzoamaka Ujah of Ministry of Health
promised their unalloyed support to the government.
