The Abia State Special Anti-Robbery Squad ( SARS),has rescued Mrs Chinyere Okoye, the kidnapped Assistant Manager News and Current Affairs of Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) channel 6 Aba.
Okoye was located and rescued from Obete, Mgboko Community in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.
The woman was kidnapped on Wednesday 27 May, 2020 by 07:45 pm in front of her compound near Obikabia road junction in Obingwa Local Government Area.
A Police source who pleaded anonymity said that after the incident took place, got the information that the victims was moved to Obete, Mgboko community.
He said that the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and other Tactical Units of the Nigeria Police Force went to work tracing the woman and her abductors.
The source said that she was rescued by the joint operation of Police Tactical Units led by SARS Commander, in Abia , SP Johnbull Obioguru.
He said that on sighting the police advancing after them, they abandoned their victims in a building in the community and ran away.
The source said that the police arrested the owner of the house in Obete Mgboko, where the kidnap victim was kept pending payment of ransome, which served as the hideout of the criminals.
Mrs Okoye was rescued unhurt and has been reunited with her family on Friday evening
